What's Happening at Hitchen
We are back from a wonderful bike trip from Dusseldorf to Warsaw. The grapes are bursting with new life, this year’s Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Rose are off to the bottlers and our Montipulciano is now in stock.
We invited you to the vineyard to taste our wines and view the latest art exhibition on 15th and 16th November - it was very successful despite the rain on Saturday.
This year we had three artists displaying their works: local Franklin artist Rosemary Stoppard has returned from another trip on the waterways of France on their barge and exhibited her watercolours. Her exhibition included a selection of her mixed media works.
Sally Blyth is an artist well known for her passion for masks and her entries in the World of Wearable Arts Shows. Inks are the current focus of her work and she had both wall masks and inkworks on display.
Jo Dalgety had smaller watercolour and charcoal works on display- "My work is about memory and experience – the paintings are less about the land but more about the people who occupy or occupied it."
The wines we had available for tasting were 2013 Chardonnay, 2013 Pinot Gris, 2013 Pinotage, 2013 Sangiovese, 2013 Montipulciano (yes, we have a little more stock of this), 2013 Pinotage and 2011 Rose. We completely sold out of the Pinot Gris!
