Hitchen Road Vineyard Pokeno new zealand

Hitchen Road Vineyard is a 5 acre vineyard on very favourable north facing slopes above the Pokeno Village, just south of the Bombay Hills. It is part of a 100 acre pastoral farm and has a beautiful view over the North Waikato.

All the wines are hand crafted here from grapes that are grown on the property. The only process that takes place off site is bottling.

What's Happening at Hitchen Road Vineyard?

We having a weekend of Wine and Art on 25th and 26th February.  Once again we are lucky enough to have Franklin artist Rosemary Stoppard exhibiting her paintings of the Waterways of France.  We will be releasing our 2010 wines and warmly invite you to come and taste them.  Bring a picnic and enjoy it in the vineyard or garden. We have ordered a sunny weekend!

The Vineyard is looking lovely especially now the sun is out.  The reds are cropping heavily and Ken is busy bunch thinning. 

Unfortunately someone in the neighbourhood  sprayed with a hormone spray at a critical time in the spring and our Chardonnay has been badly effected so we will have no fruit from that this year.  The Pinot Gris, although effected, has a small crop on it so we will net it and see what happens.

We intend having an open weeked at the end of Febuary and look forward to introducing our latest wines.  However more about that later but put a circle around the last weekend in Febuary.
